STS & OS commerce for single product ordering

Hi All,

I agreed as a favour to a friend to build him a site to sell his address books. He then decided he wanted a full e-commerce site so he could sell more products eventually,

 

At the moment he only wants to sell a single product so I am trying to wrangle OScommerce using STS to provide a simple order page that will show the Product & an add to cart button, this then goes to the shopping cart, then to Shipping and so on, Rather than having the 'Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?' page and have the create account bit left to when they are about to input their details.

 

Frankly Im lost, I got OSCommerce working and STS installed and thats the limits of my expertise.

 

I cant work out where $content is coming from for each separate page and I cant get it styled using CSS either

I do realise this OS commerce is complete overkill as I simply want to use it as a glorified shopping cart, but my friend wants a future proof set up and wants it to work with the original site design.
