Meta Titles, Descriptions & Keywords

I have manually changed the meta titles, description and keywords for each of my pages so they are unique to the page. This has worked all very well for index, and each information page. However each of the categories of which I have 11 all share the same title, description and keywords as the index page. The individual products ahve their own titles, descriptions and keywords but I would like to make separate titles, descriptions and keywords for the categories. Is this possible and how do I get access to the coding for each of the categories? Each of the pages was the pages .php file but I'm not sure on the categories - I dont see 11 category files.

Hoping somebody can supply a speedy answer and advice with simple idiot proof instructions!

This has all been done already. You should install one of the meta tags contributions. I recommend the Header Tags Controller.

thanks for the suggestion i have read up about these contrbutions but also read all the people who have had problems once they are added and I am totally new to coding so this has put me off as I do not think I would be able to sort out a mess - hence why I would rather add them manually but cannot find the relevant files for the category pages. Guidance on which files are approriate would be appreciated.

Oscommerce is a dynamic shop so you can't add them as you would on a static one. The category pages are displayed using the index file and all products are displayed using the product_info file. You can work out how to change the code dynamically, there is even code floating around here that will do that, but that means you are basically doing what the contributions do but not as well. For something as important as setting up the titles of the shop, you shouldn't cut corners. They, and other changes, are needed to place well in the search engine listings and until that happens, your sales will stay low, most likely.
