Orders stuck in "Preparing"

In testing my cart, I've found that after you pass the Payment information screen (which takes you to the screen displaying the "Confirm order" button), the order gets added to the system in a "Preparing IPN" status at that point (I'm using Paypal IPN obviously).

 

Now, if the customer never goes past this point, and then subsequently empties his cart, that order stays in their order history in that pending state without the ability to do anything with it. Meaning, in their "view orders" screen, they can view that order, but can't continue on and pay for it. This is okay for me, as I can track cart abandonment, but can't really do much else.

 

Also, in my experience buying online, this behavior seems counter-intuitive as "view my orders" screens usually only display orders that were completed, as opposed to "pending". If osc is going to show those orders, it should at least let the customer do something with them. Either delete them, or continue on and pay for them.

 

Anybody else annoyed by this, or have solutions for it?

You can modify the select statement the way that it doesn't display orders with status "Preparing IPN" at customers orders history. So there would be no confusion about it.
