Boxes and Product Detail Images

First off, Thanks for the great contribution. I am getting the design I want without too many tears. I have two questions that I haven't been able to answer from any of the other posts. If I missed the answer somewhere, sorry!

 

1. I would like to have all of the boxes in the left column. I imagine that I could copy the column_right.php contents to column_left.php. But before I go changing things I don't fully understand I wanted to check that this would be the cleanest way to achieve a two column design where all of the info boxes are in the LEFT column with the remainder for the page content.

 

2. I would like to have larger product images displayed on the product detail pages. I found that these are linked to the small image setting in the admin area, but altering these variables also changes the size of the images displayed in the new products table. This caused the table to grow until it didn't fit on the page. Is there a way to seperate these sizes.
