mnewgent
:'( Hello All, I was finally succesfull in getting the osCommerce software uploaded via FTP. I am now on the "new instalation page". I'm not exactly sure what is being asked for under the four fields on this page; "data base server" , username, password & database name. If I'm using godaddy.com so does that mean www.godaddy.com my data base server? If so, then should I be using my username and PW that I use to sign on to godaddy orr is data base server ft.mywebsiteaddress.com? then my username and password to sign into my ftp? what do I put for my data base name? Thanks for the help! [email protected]
web-project
If I'm using godaddy.com so does that mean www.godaddy.com my data base server? no, normally localhost or dedicated IP address Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
Guest
You did created a dbase before installation?.The server would be a localhost and then the dbase name what you created and password. Most of the time - your loging name will be the first and the dbase name: if your loging name to your vdec or cpanel is "someone" and dbase name is "osc then the dbase name would be "someone_osc". The dbase name what you have to put in install and username will be equal and then put your password what you created. The username would be "someone_osc".
