Manufacturers Drop Down "Please Select" Problem

Hi there,

 

I am having a problem, when I select a manufacture from the left hand drop down every thing displays fine. However when I go back to the drop down and an choose "Please Select" I get a page which I have added the text to which now says Please Choose a Sub-Category.

 

There is no image displayed only a broken link to one, in the address bar it says ..../catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=

 

where can I define this image? Or is there some other way around this please

 

I think it is something to do with this line in cat/index but I dont know how to get it to display a standard logo (my own one) when a manufaturer id not present

I have spent hours trying to figure this out and hours more searching this site but cant' find the solution.
