Database Update - How To?

I am running my store with a snapshot from March 2002. I want to update the software to the latest snapshot, and trying it now. There are many error becasue the database structure changed since my original installation.

 

What is a safe way of updating my DB - adding new tables from the current snapshot?

Ideally, I would like to keep my current DB and add only difference. Or, for that matter, how I identify the difference?

under /admin/installs there is a upgrade.php file. I used that when I recently upgraded from a older snapshop to the current snapshot (newer since 11/1).

 

And remember, backup that database before upgrading... :)
