Guest
Hi there, I recently installed (and have begun editing) oscommerce on my site. I'm ready to actually start editing the home page text (well, the catalog text that shows up) but I can't figure out how!! Please! Someone help me! ~Detailer Who has another question brewing.... Guest
Yeah, I've been looking all over and can't seem to find the answer to my question. All of the searches I do on this site bring back old topics that were never replied to. I need this site up ASAP and would LIKE IT if SOMEONE decided to HELP ME. It's not that I'm not capable of doing anything on my own, it's just that I can't find how to do this one small thing that is obviously easy to do seeing as every other cart in the WORLD has done it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gunfodder
I'm still new myself. What text on the main page are you trying to change? The text in the center can be changed by following that very same text under the 2.

Guest
The catalog index is the page I'm talking about. I've tried to follow what #2 said, but it doesn't make sense to me....I can't seem to find: "Languages->English->Define" or "Tools->File Manager modules". I've tried to follow what #2 said, but it doesn't make sense to me....I can't seem to find: "Languages->English->Define" or "Tools->File Manager modules". The code for the text you see in the main page is in the file: catalog>includes>languages>english(or whatever language you are working in)>index.php then download that page & carefully (after backing up!!) alter the standard text to your own. I printed a copy of the page so I could see in the code what I was deleting etc.
Guest
What do I need to edit a .php file? Is there a specific program or can I use wordpad or something similar? If you can't tell, this is my first time playing around with php. ^_^

If you can't tell, this is my first time playing around with php. ^_^ Ok I use Filezilla to FTP (upload & download) my files & Crimson Editor to edit my .php file. Both are free & easy to use (although I did need help with Filezilla in the beginning but now I'm ok) Then from This is a default setup of the osCommerce project to This shop is running on osCommerce version osCommerce 2.2-MS2. you can delete & change to your own text. Just be careful that you keep the table complete. If the columns & footer etc starts doing funny things then you have probably deleted a part of the code you shouldn't!! Just make sure you keep a clean back up copy of the index, php file so if it does go wrong you can go back to the beginning again.
