php error in place of thumbnail

Hi,

I am pretty new to php and osc but I can usually fuzz my way through things :-"

I am using:

• PHP 4.4.7
  
• OSC 2.2 MS2 (fresh install)
  
• OTF 2.3b
  
• GD version: bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
  

yes, I set everything to 777

 

I am getting the same results every time...no, not the beautiful little red x...

It is a tiny graphic that I think is generated by php. It says something like "Error" and the rest is unreadable.

 

If anyone out there has had problems like this or has an idea how they might be caused, please respond. Thank you.
