SSL Question - 5 Point

Hi All !!,

 

I have an existing oscommerce e-Shop that is running just the way I want it BUT my Shop is not SSL enabled (YET).

 

I am just about to add SSL capabilities to my site, but I need to know what will happen when I do, other than the obvious fact that it will be secured (lol).

 

1) Will OSC automatically recognize that it is on a SSL enabled server?

 

2) Do I have to reinstall my eShop before it will run with a SSL Certificate as it is now on a NON-SSL server.

 

3) Is there an upgrade script or contribution that I can run to automate the installation of a SSL Cert into my eShop?

 

4) Before an existing NON-SSL shop will work with a SSL certificate what needs to be done except from buying the actual SSL Certificate and a dedicated IP address? (I am on a shared hosting package)

 

5) Please could you provide me with any tips or pitfalls that you have yourself experienced whilst doing the same thing as I am about to commit to..
