Sam666
My hosting provider disallows the "Options" command in HTACCESS for security reasons, I tried using Ultimate SEO and SEO-G but they both have the command in the HTACCESS. Is there any way around this? Any alternative? Do I need it?

Sam666
Just installed the cname & pname, works fine apart from the pname, the link to the products isn’t using the new pname, but when your viewing the product page, the "add to cart button" uses the new pname? I noticed it didn't do pnames on the other SEO/SEFs when I tested them, they weren’t working but obviously I could still see the link. It doesn't do the job correctly though, which is why it was replaced. If you don't have a choice, then that is the way to go. It doesn’t change the link like the cname does, and it's still the same link. So why is that?
♥toyicebear
What? I tried the latest version and it required the HTACCESS mod, Cname & Pname works but the pname doesn't? It doesn’t change the link like the cname does, and it's still the same link. So why is that? The version of ultimate seo i mentioned has cname and pname included in the mod....this is so that it could work for servers where mod rewrite were not available..... after install there is an admin setting where you can choose metode of url rewrite , setting this the cname and pname will give you those urls without using htaccess while setting it to rewrite mod will give you ultimate seo style urls but then it requires the .htaccess rewrite too... I mentioned this since you did not have luck with the original cname and pname version.... Some say that the one included with, Ultimate SEO URLs v2.0b Chemo 7 Feb 2005 , is a better version....so it might be worth a try..... (Att...its not included in any of the versions after that one......) ♥toyicebear
Oh right, but I still get the pname problem with that as well for some reason? Some points to check... 1. Have you totally removed all the mods from the Search Engine Friendly URLS Contrib from your site? 2. Check if you are hosted on a PHP/MYSQL 5 server, then the code in those contribs might need some fixes to run correctly.... ♥toyicebear
Just for fun i did a test instal of cname & pname v1.5 on a test site running on PHP/MYSQL 5, it was a very easy install and worked straight out of the box for both products and for categories... Att: the test site used runs MS2.2 060817 and not RC1. The cname worked fine for me too but the pname didn't do anything, didn't change the link at all and I have no idea why? And it's not just that package, did it on Ultimate SEOs but the link didn't work then aswell

Sam666
Will try on RC1 when i have some free time to spare....I think it might just be my version because its a heavily modded template, anything obvious that would make the pname not SEO? Thanks for the help and sorry for being a bit lind  One more question though, regarding this thread "http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=254741" Shall I use the cname & pname and carry out tasks 2-8? About 7 and 8, should I still do them and when you set Prevent Spider Sessions to "True" do you set it back to false after you have done no 8 or leave it off? thanks ;)
