Need help with setup.

We have recently had our webpage provider install OSCommerce to try to figure out a better way to handle a basically non-existence paymentonline. I cant figure out how to secure the admin page as it is not secure. I also need to figure out how to set up a catalog of being able to download a product after purchase. This download should only be good for 24 hours only. And the customer should get an email that is issuing them a serial number that should be sequential.

 

 

Any way to do this??

The control panels of many hosts have a password protection option. If yours doesn't, then search on the web for how to password protect with .htaccess.

 

For downloads, there is an in-built download controller in admin->Configuration->Download. That should do what you want but there is a contribution, by the same name, that extends its ability a little.

It will issue the serial number to the customer as well?

No, it is meant to allow them to download a file. You could place a file with the serial number in that package but that would probably be a lot of work. There may be a contribution for serial numbers though. I do recall seeing that question come up before. You should search the contributions section for it.
