The e-commerce.

Need help upgrading from 1.1 to 2.2

Hi,

I've recently been asked to help re-design an online osCommerce (version 1.1) catalog/shopping cart. The client is switching from their old host to a new one, including the SSL certificate. I have moved the entire osCommerce database over, as well as the site files, but I need to update their osCommerce to the most recent version (2.2) while keeping their existing database info intact.

I've read through the documentation, but I'm still not quite getting it. The client's current site is still live at this point, and needs to remain that way until I'm completely finished with the new one. However, the installation instructions say I need to copy the 'catalog' folder to the sites root, which would overwrite the existing catalog. Is there any way I can do both simultaneously, and then somehow "switch" over to the new one when I'm ready?

I really appreciate any help I can get with this! Thank you in advance!

export your old db to an sql file and edit at your comp. then if you believe everything ok than reupload it. On the other hand you don't need to install to root. If you have a windows machine at home and it's keeping you away from viewing php files use wamp to emulate an apache server at your windows machine
