Guest Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 :( I just downloaded release 2.2 and most of my file icons are the generic "windows" icon and I cant read them, what program do I need to veiw them?
wizardsandwars Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 Any text editor will do the trick. Try notepad, or wordpad. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
zzfritz Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 osC is implemented in PHP, thus all the file extensions are .php and Windows shows you its default icon because you have no progam associated with that file extension. While it is true you can view and edit the php files (scripts) with any text editor, using one that recognizes the language syntax and reserved words will make the experience much more satisfying and less error prone. My old favorite for editing progam files is EditPlus available here: http://www.editplus.com/ for $30. But there is another interesting freeware editor called PHPEdit, get it here: http://www.phpedit.com/. That site also has links to other PHP resources such as the language reference manual.
