Gauravs
There was a problem connecting to the database server. The following error had occured: Lost connection to MySQL server during query I am afraid this error is due to connection between webserver and database server (and nothing wrong in settings with OSC) Please check with your hosting company and verify they have enough "timeout period" to allow query to and from database. during installation, when data is being dumped to database (dummy values) .. it is going to take a while, and thus timeout should not occur. Cheers Best Regards,Gaurav

This is the exact reason why I didn't want to use osCommerce!!! !@#!@$#$#@$#@@# :( Help

From my end I haven't had this kind of issue and I suspect it doesn't have much to do with osC. The install is the easiest part. The database is small initially. If you're having this kind of issue now you can expect to see more down the road. Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...

Iggy They're responding to but since I'm not to literate in code or anything like that, I don't even know what's the right answer! Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind when I have to register again. Thanita
moziambic
Lunarpages is perfectly alright. I had my own oscommerce store hosted there without any errors. You can always try to install using fantastico (cpanel) to avoid these kinds of errors. Contributions I'm using: Updated Spiders.txt | Country State Selector To add more life to your site. If they're having issues connecting to the db it's kind of, just a little, sorta unacceptable. Every host has problems occasionally but this seems to have been going on for days given the post dates. And no, don't install via Fantastico unless it's the latest RC version. Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...

Iggy Fantastico installation did not work. They didn't have the latest version. I do like the support as far as the speediness of replies is concerned. But hearing that the database error shouldn't be this much of a problem is setting up red flags for me. I guess I just don't know any better. Which host do you recomened?(not that I can switch now...it would be too expensive) Thanita

If you can't move you might ask them what the hassle is. It sounds like your db may be on a machine that's a tad, say, overloaded and they may be able to switch you to a less busy box. Hope that helps and good luck! Iggy Everything's funny but nothing's a joke...
