daninj
Hey folks. I've been scratching my head regarding the online documentation. I have just installed osc 2.2 and after following the post installation suggestion of renaming /install/ I get the error "cannot connect to database" when i head back to the catalog / store root. I have checked configure.php and it has all the db settings in there that the web install gui added. Could someone point me in the right direction ? I'm having trouble finding some info on this. Thanks! EDIT : OOOOHHH!! sorry, i'm just stupid. I think I may have worked it out! :)

daninj
Ah ok, well i thought that maybe I had uploaded the package incorrectly and upset the directory structure, although from another fresh install I am still getting : ""1046 - No database selected select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration [TEP STOP]"" when I goto www.url.com/catalog/ after moving install to install.bak Any ideas ? Thanks!
daninj
Just a quick note : /admin/ is all working fine, i can log into the admin etc. its just the store catalog that is giving me that error. I have been doign a bit of reading up on this, maybe it is because the tables were for some reason not imported correctly ? I'll have to wait a while to get phpmyadmin installed to check that as I cant seem to find it anywhere on the server.
daninj
OK i have also tried now manually adding the database tables using the sql file in /install/ it has once more added the 47 tables in there which is what the osc web install did in the first place so it doesnt seem to be that. I have no idea as to what this could be. Las installation of osc about 6 months ago went perfectly easily.
Zambonito
The error message indicates that you can't connect to the database. This means that the MySql libraries are available to PHP. Since you can connect when going into admin but not catalog this indicates two different db configuration files ( makes sense). You may have checked the wrong config file. Sounds like the userid/password are wrong. MySql can be a bit strange with its security settings so make sure that the userid are identical and not equivalent I.E. <name>@localhost is not the same as <name>@my.actual.ip.address even though they may mean the same thing If you can access MySql directly try manually logging on with the exact info from the config file. Compare your catalog and admin includes/confire.php for your database settings.
daninj
Ok thanks to you both ill check out the different config files for both admin and catalog today and see whats going on in there. Thats quite usefull what you have said about the different config files and it being indicative of only one of them not being able to connect, I hope that is it. Les, I'm hosting this myself on solaris 10 so I had to install phpmyadmin to make life easier instead of just bashing away at the prompt :)
