Changing Code

OsCommerce is loaded upto Cpanel with fantastico as instructed. I need to change coding for changing the looks and developing my own individual looking site. I have tried using file manager and it will only accept certain changes in certain files and blocks other changes in files that need to be made. eg. width of a box/column cant do it just reverts to default, can only remove right column from certain files others that need it removing wont allow me to save code changes on file manager.

It was suggested to me I tried using smart ftp but that downloads files fine to my pc but I make and save changes in the files on pc but when I try uploading there appears to be no changes to the files at all and instead of just uploading one file it goes onto the next and the next and the next etc. Does anybody have suggestions to rectify this matter and enable me to make the changes required.

With loading direct to CPanel through fantastico as recommended by Vodahost I do not have any osCommerce files on my PC other than the ones I have downloaded using Smart FTP.

All help and suggestions would be apppreciated.

Hi, I am not 100% sure on this, but I will try. I think you have to change the permission code (CHOMD) ? of the files that you want to change. You should see this ability in your cpanel when you click on the file you want to change.

Hope this was helpful!

P.S. I had downloaded all of the entire original oscommerce file 2.2 ms2-051113 if you should need any of the originals just let me know

I understand the principal of what you are saying but there is no option of changing CHOMD when I click on any file is it somewhere else within osCommerce. I have read about altering CMOD to 777 to be able to overwrite but how and where I do not know.
