Snapshot Changes - how to handle them?

I am running my store with a 2.2 snapshot from 3/8/02. In the past months I cleaned up some bugs, made some slight mods in some files. Being an amateur I did not document these changes, though most of them can be tarcked.

I am trying now to use some contributions and they do not work, apparently because they were written for the newer code.

What do I do? Installing a new snapshot is risky.

Any suggestions?
