Paypal IPN payments - shipping cost not included

Recommended Posts

I just noticed this problem in the last week and it happened all of a sudden. I haven't made any changes or anything to my store in awhile, so it started just out of the blue. Whenever someone checks-out their order goes to pay and selects Paypal, I get the payment through Paypal but for some reason it does not include shipping?? Not sure why this suddenly started but was wondering how I could fix it? I am using the Paypal IPN module.

On a second note, I have another problem that started some time ago. (also just out of the blue for no reason). It seams whenever somebody places an order, that the items inventory doesn't update like it should. If there is one item and someone buys it, it still shows as 1 item in stock and available for purchase. This also happens only some of the time.

Hopefully somebody can help with these problems as it almost makes maintaining the the store more work than its worth. Please help!

Bump

I am having exactly the same problems as you - started a month (maybe a month and a half) ago.

Tried ringing Paypal support but couldnt get through.

Sent them an email and was told to request a refund from the seller and try again - they obviously didn't read that I was the seller and was having a problem with the IPN.

I've got a feeling its something to do with the settings in your Paypal account profile. I changed mine and it worked for the next two transactions but it happened again last night.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(

we have the same problem here, this has been ticking along merrily for nearly 2 years now but has recently stopped processing shipping charges, yet still delivers us a message back say the payment has gone through fine and we can send the goods out.

Nothing has changed at our end. Sounds like there may be a problem with the way paypal is accepting order details from the IPN module, in which case, this could be affecting a huge load of people....

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for a fix, I'm all ears :)

I had the same problem after years of trouble free operation and a new Paypal IPN was installed by my hosting provider last Thursday 26th Oct.

This was to fix the problem where postage was no longer being included where more than 1 item was in the shopping basket.

Unfortunately the fix (which requires the shipping calculations section within Paypal to be blank) now leaves me in the situation whereby every item except the first one has an additional £0.1488 added to the total. This means anyone ordering 5 of something will pay the normal shipping for 5 plus 4 x £0.1488

Within Paypal shipping there is also the option for transactional calculation but this appears to drop the normal shipping value in favour of just the £0.1488

You may be wondering where the £0.1488 for every product above the first one came from. Well, if you find out please let me know.

It may be some sort of bug in the new Paypal IPN contribution but I'm no techi so can't say for sure.

Hope this helps

Derick

Another one with a similar problem to join the debate!! After two years of successful use of Paypal, all of a sudden I have had tow transactions in a few days dropping the shipping charges.

Does anyone out there have a solution or suggestion. If this continues it will ultimately mean that we cannot use Paypal anymore. I am fairly desperate to find and implement a solutrion so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Sorry for bumping, but having contacted three colleagues who all use the Paypal system, they have all checked and have experienced a similar issue.

For anyone out there, please do check your orders to make sure that the postage costs were carried across to Paypal.

For any paypal experts out there - Help!!!! Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks again.

I've just updated to the latest PayPal IPN v2.3.2 yesterday (previously we were running V1.something)

I set the options to 'transaction type' = aggregate and 'Move tax to total amount' = true and now (thankfully) it's processing the total price properly again.

Hopefully that's it sorted for good now.....

Is it something about the shipping costs being calculated at paypal and replacing the stores?

Hello, I had the same problem, also with the version 2.3.2 of Paypal IPN. The sandbox worked fine, but going live the shipping costs were gone. So I went searching here on the forums and found 2 solutions that could work. Only when I did both it worked.

1. Login to paypal

> click Profile tab

> click Postage Calculations (in Seller Preferences.

> tick box Click here to allow transaction-based postage values to override the profile postage settings listed above (if profile settings are enabled).

> click Save

2. - Locate the following file in your OSC installation

[installation Directory]\catalog\includes\modules\payment\paypal_ipn.php

- Make a backup copy of the file

- Open it up with a text editor

- Search for the following string: "no_shipping"

- You should find the following line:

$parameters['no_shipping'] = '1';

- Change the "1" in "2" to read

$parameters['no_shipping'] = '2';

I found it here: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=278816 all the credits go to Hairyharry and Helper.

I hope it works for you too! Good Luck! :)

I have installed the version 2.3.2 of Paypal IPN and it seemed to work ok. I have also used the fix above and the "Live" test orders that I placed went through fine. Fingers crossed that this is the end of the problems!

Thanks for the help and I hope that it helps others.

Forget the above "solution". For more info about this, check the Official PayPal IPN Support Thread...

That is always sound advice.

That's not always sound advice (referring to putting such a topic in the Payapl IPN thread), its like saying "here's my needle let me just put it in a haystack".

This is a specific and new problem with Paypal and it is quite legitimate to set up a thread for people looking to solve the issue.

This issue is costing me money and if I (or my hosting/support provider) can't find a solution soon I will just have to take Paypal off as an option. Correctly charging customers is fundamental to running a business.

I beg to differ.

There is more than one paypal ipn contribution.

People subscribe to the threads that they are interested in.

The questions would get asked once.

The problems are solved once.

Hi everybody,

I have this same problem as you guys. I posted a question on Pay Pal Developer site and got an answer: http://www.paypaldeveloper.com/pdn/board/m...jump=true#M4125

The worst is that my posting on Pay Pal is a few day old. Since this time there are no progress. I don’t know how long they need to correct that bug, but we are loosing money.

I am thinking to switch to the other merchants, but I don’t know them. I know Pay Pal since they start to grow and somehow I stick with them for so many years.

Can someone advice about other “good Merchants” and contributions?

Thanks

Andrew
