flnative
I installed OSC via Fantisco on a PHP5. I got the same error message like everyone else. Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory. I READ the instructions CAREFULLY on the patch to Global Registry issue. I applied the patch to the ADMIN files as instructed. However, I could not apply the patch to the Catalog files, as they were not any to apply it to. I assume that Fantistico runs a script to automatically delete these files after it installs it. As I read that these get deleted manually after you install if you uploaded the program manually. AM I WRONG ON THIS ASSUMPTION? Or the catalog files are located elsewhere in my directory???? I can not find them, if I did I would have applied the patch on these too!! Please clarify please.. So the end result, I can access the admin panel URL fine, but I still get the same error message on the home page. Please advise what to do next. First correct answer gets a prize! flnative
Problem solved... do not read the instructions too carefully or literally on the patch as requested. I did not have a file named "catalog" the instructions indicated too look for that directory... it is merely meant as your root directory to your OScommerce site... A simple update to the instructions could have saved me and others countless hours of research. But I do appreciate the patch... that must have been a huge headache to figure out... My advice, delete the files on your webspace, and download OSC from solution downloads tag at the top of the page. Unzip the package. FTP to your webspace and follow the install instructions. Create your database first. Use a proper ftp client (eg filezilla, cuteftp, or whatever - anything but IE). So while I was writing this, you solved the problem.
