Welcome to my test store. All items here are now available via the online shop.

Error Messages

If there are any error or warning messages shown above, please correct them first before proceeding.

Error messages are displayed at the very top of the page with a complete background color.

Several checks are performed to ensure a healthy setup of your online store - these checks can be disabled by editing the appropriate parameters at the bottom of the includes/application_top.php file.

Editing Page Texts

The text shown here can be modified in the following file, on each language basis:

[path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php

That file can be edited manually, or via the Administration Tool with the Languages->English->Define or Tools->File Manager modules.

The text is set in the following manner:

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...');

The text highlighted in green may be modified - it is important to keep the define() of the TEXT_MAIN keyword. To remove the text for TEXT_MAIN completely, the following example is used where only two single quote characters exist:

define('TEXT_MAIN', '');

More information concerning the PHP define() function can be read here.

Online Documentation

Online documentation can be read at the osCommerce Knowledge Base site.

I love her answers, NOT--she must forget what it was like to be new to something and be overwhelmed by it, even if it is easy

You can edit the define text for the front page in includes/languages/english/index.php (or your language)

Like this, find the text_main define in the file I mentioned and make it like this, being careful about apostrophes, etc

define('TEXT_MAIN', 'You\'re awesome description here.');

"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer.

It's his answer Rabbit, in Europe Jan is almost always a boy's name :lol:

Never mind. Check my posts, I don't remember ever having asked a question here. A few wrong answers yes. And no, I was not overwhelmed because I read a number of PHP books and struggled with PHP on my own before I saw the osC code.

But there are a fair number of people here who believe that every fool and his horse can work on osC code without having learned anything. That must be highly frustrating because it really helps to know the basics of PHP when you are doing that. So my advice would be, read a beginners books on PHP (Matt Zandstra's Teach Yourself PHP in 24 hours is a favourite of mine) and save yourself an awful lot of time and frustration.
