Enclosing shop within a box

narco

Recommended Posts

Hey. I have a fairly intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS and I have read the manual, but I am still having trouble working out how to put my osCommerce shop within a box. With the default build, the shop takes up the full window. However, I have seen many shops where the shop is encased within a box and there is a background surrounding the box. I can't work out for the life of me how to implement this.

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction? I don't necessarily want someone to just post me some code that will do it. Rather if they explained what I need to do, keeping in mind that my HTML and CSS knowledge is fairly intermediate and not really overly advanced. if I need some extra help I can always ask afterwards :)

Many Thanks!

Tom

This is the simplest way to do it. Open includes/header.php in a text editor and before the very first <table> add another by including this code:

<table align="center" border="0" width="770"><tr><td>

adjust the width of 770 to how you want it.

Then open includes/footer.php and at the very bottom, close the <table> with this:

</td></tr></table>

There are other ways, using CSS but that should get you started.
