Domain Alias (name masking) and SSL problems

Recommended Posts

Hi to all who read this and hopefully some one can help me out there. I have spent ages trying to solve this problem and have actually given up. I will give my last attempt at this and seeif someone out there can help me. I am not sure if people know about this issue or it could be my hosting account provider (godaddy - probably not recommeded as seem not that helpful I think). I host with that company and have also purchased the domain names from them and have even bought the SSL from them too. Roughly speaking I purchased 2 domain names.

Silicon-cases.com and r4direct.com

At the moment I have one hosting account with silicon-cases.com as the main one while r4direct.com is under silicon-cases.com (since this worked out cheaper than have to hosting accounts)

My plan is to have 2 shops as you probably see. I started with r4direct one and so tje path to that shop is:

The SSL works fine when I use the above link (as the SSL kicks in once I click My Account). However in a business sense most people willl not be using the above link as I would like them to use www.r4direct.com. Which also goes to my site. But if I use that with name masking (godaddy uses that term - or domain alias). The secure lock at the bottom does not show. I guess I can turn masking off and it will show the full path as mentioned above. Any ideas on what the problem is and what I can do?? If in the end there is no solution. Also I will only be accepting paypal payments in my shop if that helps. Just thought I would do my best for the customers in keeping their information secure. What do you recommend I use.

1. I turn off masking and buyers can see the full path of my shop (although it starts of with another shop name) - lock shows.

2. I turn on masking and so full path will always show www.r4direct.com (but no lock at the bottom).

Here is my config file for the shop (not the one in admin - can provide that if needed to)

// Define the webserver and path parameters

// * DIR_FS_* = Filesystem directories (local/physical)

// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.silicon-cases.com'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.silicon-cases.com'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'www.silicon-cases.com');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'www.silicon-cases.com');

define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '.silicon-cases.com');

define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '.silicon-cases.com');

define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/r4direct.com/shop/');

define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/r4direct.com/shop/');

define('DIR_WS_IMAGES', 'images/');

define('DIR_WS_ICONS', DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'icons/');

define('DIR_WS_INCLUDES', 'includes/');

define('DIR_WS_BOXES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'boxes/');

define('DIR_WS_FUNCTIONS', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'functions/');

define('DIR_WS_CLASSES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'classes/');

define('DIR_WS_MODULES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'modules/');

define('DIR_WS_LANGUAGES', DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'languages/');

define('DIR_WS_DOWNLOAD_PUBLIC', 'pub/');

I have not provided the rest as you should not need that (maybe?)

Anyone please help or give comments.
