Product Attributes disappear when order is placed

Hi, recently we added some new products to a store that require product attributes. When a person orders and selects an attribute the cart is updated correctly, but when they login to finish the order the attribute vanishes. So as a result the order goes on and then we have to call the customer and ask what size, color etc etc they wanted.


If you are logged in when you select an item w/attribute the attributes do not disappear.


I checked the sessions in the database and you can see the attributes there, once logged in I can also look at the customer-basket-attributes table and the attribute are also there as well. It is just from that point to the order being finished the attributes get deleted. Everything else works like it should on the cart, the cart has been installed for about 18 months without any problems...
