Hello everyone! First, thank you for all the information that you all provide on here. Well, in my attempt to build a site for someone I am encountering an error. I have a template that I uploaded using my hosts' server... (fantastico)....

So when going to the index.php this error message pops up:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/MYUSERNAME/public_html/THESITENAME/includes/functions/database.php on line 18

Unable to connect to database server!

How can I fix this? Did I just mess up weeks worth of trial and error?

Please help :'( .... TIA!

the error tells you: incorrect password to MySQL database.

to fix this problem you will need to update the configure.php files which are located in the following directories:

/shop/admin/includes

&

/shop/includes

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

when YOu created data base You might have given it a name and a password.

So in configure.php file those needs to be place.

// define our database connection

define('DB_SERVER', 'localhost'); // eg, localhost - should not be empty for productive servers

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'username');// the name You created to be used as user for the db

define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', '');//password that You entered

define('DB_DATABASE', 'freshosc');//database name

If You are not able to get thesevalues You need to ask Your hosting company. As they will help YOu in geting these values.
