athwyna Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Hi, I really am at lost here. I downloaded the package which comes with the admin and catalog. I have uncompressed it. Then I uploaded /catalog to a server under www.zinko.net/sports/catalog and the admin to www.zinko.net/sports/admin Next I did setup up the database as required. What do I do now? I can find installation instructions or examples anywhere except the very brief one which asked me to do the above. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks.
mattice Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Are we talking 2.1 or 2.2 ? "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
athwyna Posted November 19, 2002 Author Posted November 19, 2002 I think we are talking 2.1. Is there a 2.2 already? I saw in the download area that it is only 2.1?
athwyna Posted November 19, 2002 Author Posted November 19, 2002 Ok, I am using 2.1. I can see a bit at www.zinko.net/admin Cant see a thing at www.zinko.net/catalog Can someone view it and tell me what's wrong?
timboellis Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 i looked at your site but i think the problem is with your directory as your images and various other links eg. http://www.zinko.net/admin/images/header_a...inistration.gif where it should be heading to sport directory
athwyna Posted November 20, 2002 Author Posted November 20, 2002 Sorry, It was supposed to be www.zinko.net/sports/admin www.zinko.net/sports/catalog btw, which is the index page that visitors will see? Catalog? Where ecatly do I need to edit to install the cart?
timboellis Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 well the way i set mine up to start was copy to admin folder into the catalog folder then upload the catalog folder then you can use the default settings in the install
Qwackmaster Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 athwyna, I was in the same confused boat just a few hours ago. But I found this site: http://www.oscdox.com I downloaded version 2.2 from their site and also printed their complete 47 page documentation guide (which is OUTSTANDING!!!) Now I'm up and running and working on my customizations and configurations. Trust me, if I can do it ANYONE can. I'm astounded by how much work is still involved in having a complete and working product though... Good luck, and THANK YOU to everyone who has worked so hard on this project! You've tried to philosophize your pain but the hurt's in your heart and not in your brain
athwyna Posted November 20, 2002 Author Posted November 20, 2002 Hi Qwack, I followed the link u gave and install 2.2 now. Followed the instructions there and it says installation complete. But alas, when I click either Catalog or Admin I get errors :) This is one of them, any ideas what's wrong? Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/athwyna/www/sports/catalog/includes/functions/whos_online.php on line 42
Qwackmaster Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 I'm not sure to be honest. PHP is still much like Chinese to me. Maybe another, more experienced OSCommerce-Head could give us a pointer on that? I didn't experience any errors like that though. HELP!!!!
