related products / cross selling

As people were so much help on my last query, i'm going to take liberties and request a solution to my current problem, sorry!

My client would like to have a 'related' products feature on the site - where he can list several products that are directly related to the product the consumer is currently viewing, which may, for instance be part of a package that is available for sale seperately. An example is probably required:

Customer is currently looking at a front bumper for a car made by "BIGKIT BODYKITS". "BIGKIT" make an entire bodykit for that vehicle, including front/rear bumpers, sideskirts and spoiler.

Is there a mod available (or does OSC already do this, even) that will allow me to 'cross-sell' all parts of the bodykit under each individual part?

ie, when looking at the front bumper in detail, there is also a product listing underneath the product description for the other parts of the kit.

Any help is as ever much appreciated!

Regards,

Jay

Note: I am already aware of the "also purchased..." part of the OSC package, but this is invariably inaccurate, and even using fake purchases to 'fix' this list, it is always possible that a real transaction will screw the listing up and is generally just a 'messy' fix that i'd rather not deal with!

Thanks again,

Thanks Guyver, i had actually looked through the contributions page to see if there was already a module that does this. Is it just me or does anyone else struggle to browse/navigate the Contributions section? Maybe it could use a restructure or search facility, i dont know.

Anyway, im assuming the contribution your referring to is the Cross-Sell (XSell) Module v0.9? I have actually implemented and used this module and it is very good. Sadly it is lacking an admin feature, so in order to 'cross-sell' products, you have to manipulate the database directly.

Whilst this isnt necessarily a problem for me to do, i am quite sure my clients capabilities (being the non-techy person he is) do not extend this far. I'd like to be able to have an admin feature for this module. I may attempt to write one myself, however i would first like to check that nobody has already done the coding, after all, the wheel doesnt need re-inventing!

Thanks,

Jay

John, your a star mate - thats pretty much perfect! Could use a bi-directional link facilty, whereby you have the option to 'relate' all the checked products under each individual product (if your following me!) but other than that its spot-on! Thanks!
