"Now in your cart" displaying an extra "0"

Recommended Posts

In header.php I have coding to display number of items currently in the shopping cart. For some reason there is an extra 0 attached to the actual number of items in cart.

Im new to php coding so I can't fiqure out how to fix this issue. Here is the php source coding:

<span class="tx2">now in your cart</span> <a class="ml" href="<?=tep_href_link('shopping_cart.php')?>"><?=$cart->count_contents()?> <?=BOX_SHOPPING_CART_EMPTY?></a></td></tr>

here is the markup generated(obviously) :

now in your cart</span> <a class="ml" href="http://www.allkindsofstuff-jewelry.com/store/shopping_cart.php">2 0 items</a></td></tr>

I know enough to figure out that it is something with cart->count_contents coding. I tried removing the () but that just prevented the value of the items in the shopping cart from being returned, but the zero was still there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys...
