ljweb Posted November 17, 2002 Posted November 17, 2002 Anyone done a gateway add-on for eway? They have a list of the fields that need to be past on to eway to make it work at http://www.eway.com.au/support/3rdPartyCart.asp . How hard or easy would this be to do?
ljweb Posted November 18, 2002 Author Posted November 18, 2002 I've received this from Will Mays : I have done a very sloppy job of the eWay gateway interface (using the XML & cURL solution). It needs to be cleaned up a little, but i would be happy to do this & then contribute. It may take between 7-14 days (there are a few things already in my osC todo list) ... but i will do it. Will didnt have net access, so couldnt post this reply here.
TB Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 I'm interested in an eWAY payment gateway also! One that runs on a Linux server through the eWAY XML system would be great! Also, until I can get a payment module for the gateway... how can I securely transfer my clients credit card details to me from the online form... so I can process them manually. I'm thinking of either St George or Commonwelth Bank for my merchant services... if someone knows a way I can take out the middle man (eway) for either of these, that'd be FANTASTIC! If I still need a 'middle man', does anyone know if there's a better company than eWAY? I'm happy to go with an overseas provider if the charges (setup, ongoing and transfer) aren't too much. Cheers, Tony "The price of success is perseverance. The price of failure comes much cheaper."
Snowman Posted November 29, 2002 Posted November 29, 2002 Use my CommWeb module for commonwealth bank (wont work on post 1st November code) Im working on a St George module and will re-release all the others ive done soon.
TB Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Steve, Since writing my last post I have checked out Westpac and they are offering a better deal than St George. ........................................ :( ...................... :D ....................................St George............Westpac Setup...............................$165..................$100 Monthly.........................$22 - $88................$20 Merchant Service Fee.....2% - 8%...............3.3% (Westpac's is reassesed after 3 months see if a lesser % is possible) In light of this, do you have any plans to create a module that will work with Westpac direct? :D If this is too great an ask, then a module that works with eWAY's XML/SSL site would be the next best thing since eWAY operates with Westpac. :) Many thanks, Tony "The price of success is perseverance. The price of failure comes much cheaper."
Snowman Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 If you can send me an intergration guide for the Westpac system id love to do a module for it. Im testing the St George one at the moment and hope to release it this afternoon or this evening (my time)
TB Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Steve, I called Westpac and spoke with their 'E-Commerce Experts'. They don't have an integration guide available. Westpac used to run their own backend, though they have pulled it down to play with the package until mid next year. :( Until that system is back online (which should allow us to directly connect to Westpac) they're only utilising processes through CamTech resellers... ie. eWAY, DirectOne, etc. As per my previous posts, the next best thing would be an eWAY XML/SSL module. If I had any idea on how to program a payment gateway module (or program PHP at all!) I'd make it myself, though is it possible with the information eWAY provide for you to please make an XML/SSL eWAY module? eWAY's XML support / integration page is here, http://www.eway.com.au/support/xml.asp It also has listed the fields that are returned by the payment gateway on completion of the transaction which cover the details of the successful/failed transaction, etc. Many thanks for all your input Steve, Tony "The price of success is perseverance. davehill Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Use my CommWeb module for commonwealth bank (wont work on post 1st November code) Im working on a St George module and will re-release all the others ive done soon. Would one of those others include an eWay module? :) I hope so! Thanks.
TB Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Would one of those others include an eWay module? :) I hope so! Thanks. I doubt that they would include an eWay module since eWay acts as our (merchants) third party conduit to the banks. It's a shame to see that one of the best Australian getways doesn't have a osCommerce module available. Especially since they provide all the information required to create a module on their website, and they also have the ability to use an XML/SSL payment gateway that doesn't require your clients to leave your site. IMHO, using a gateway like that looks much more professional than having a page popup up asking for their information. The conclusion I've come to with my preference of gateways is eWay and Westpac. Westpac - $100 setup, $20 per month... 3.3% MSF eWay - $0 setup (special until end of month), $285 per year... $0.50 per transaction. Total: $43.75 per month + 3.3% MSF Or the other option for a 'popup' system would be CommWeb, who charge a $480 ish setup fee, $55 per month, 1.9% MSF and $0.38 per transaction. I guess you could try and 'barter' with the other banks, but a low MSF through CommWeb (they require a detailed business plan) would pay for itself if you're dealing in more expensive products. It gets pretty frustraiting not being a programmer, I've tried to create a few modules by modifying some existing ones, but I guess it's more intricate than that since no-one has come up with an XML/SSL eWay module yet. Cheers, Tony "The price of success is perseverance. The price of failure comes much cheaper."
Snowman Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 I have been working on an eway module. Its just that im flat out with my own business work, so osC stuff has had to be put on the backburner for a bit. Plus im moving house so that compunds the problem :? I wasnt aware that CommWeb had become so costly, it wasnt that dear when i did the module for it.
TB Posted December 11, 2002 Posted December 11, 2002 Yeah, the CommWeb module is pretty expensive, though (as you know) it is an 'all-in-one' system where you don't require a third party (eWay). I guess this reduces the overall costs of using it... though they don't offer the option of a seamless integration, ie. own site SSL behind the scenes type of affair. How is the business work? Are you planning on opening your osCommerce store again in the near future? Is there anything we (new/upcomming store owners) should be aware of? I've read some posts of yours with regards to chargebacks and being bitten... which I'm sure we're all trying to avoid... I guess it's just a matter of outsmarting the bastards! I've also noticed that spotit.com.au is 'down for maintenance', do anyone know if this is related to a software/security issue? It just makes you a bit edgy when someone like that goes 'down for maintenance'. It's a hectic time moving house, which I can appreicate... thanks anyway for starting work on the eWay module. Much appeciated! I'm pretty interested in it, since an eWay payment gateway is all we've got left to complete our site... :? when I spoke with eWay the other day, they seemed interested in it and spoke like they'd the option to their site if one was created, though weren't activily developing a module. I know I've mentioned this alot, but are you working on the XML/SSL :D or shared payment page module for eWay or both? Note: I have no financial interest in eWay, so an XML/SSL that fits what I'm after is fine, though IMHO it's a good cost effective gateway and think that alot of Australians would benefit from it. A bit off the topic, what's the best way to show all prices inc. GST to guests? I've set a tax zone for Australia --> All Zones for GST which works fine, but it doesn't display prices inc. GST until they login (with an Australian zone in their details.) I tried setting a World zone of 10% which worked for guests, but it then doubled (applied both taxes) the GST component once someone from Australia logged in. I'm planning on only dealing in Australia (with AUD) to begin with due to simplicity and security, though I wouldn't mind implementing something now incase I have a need to sell to other countries.
