UK Based Hosting

Hiya All,

I'm just about ready to get everything up and running with a host.

I've been waiting for Clook, but their upgrade seems to be taking forever!

Therefore, I'd be grateful for any advice on which is the best UK based host to use with OSC.

I understand that forum discussions about hosts isn't allowed (i think) so please message me your recommendations.

Many Thanks

Keith

You will need look for hosting with the following specifications:

1) PHP language & MySQL databases

2) good uptime (99.9%) & technical support

3) speed of the server

4) some webhosts offer FREE installation & set-up oscommerce

5) option to purchase dedicated IP + SSL cerificate

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Not worth using a US-based server these days imo if your customers are based in the UK. You can get a reasonably fast UK webhost with telephone support for under £50 per year.

No difference, where your customers are, it is not worth to pay £1.00 per minute for monkeys telephone support (who can't help on phone & redirect somewhere but not to UK call centre), then to US telephone support cost for me £0.0 via VOIP line.
