how do I install SSL into OSC?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I need to know how can I install SSL into OSC because I am using StartCom Free SSL Certification Authority and I was looking through there website and here is the list how to install it but I dont understand it at all can somebody please direct me to the correct way of doing this:

Apache on StartCom Linux:

On a StartCom Linux system, save the files you retrieved from the Certificate Creation Wizard in a convenient directory, such as /etc/httpd/mycerts or similar. Make sure, you did not change the content and you saved it in ASCII format.

Open the ssl configuration file located in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf with your favorite text editor (gedit, nano) and go to line 129:

Change this line to SSLCertificateFile /etc/httpd/mycerts/ssl.crt.

Continue to line 137:

Change this line to SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/httpd/mycerts/ssl.key

At line 148 change to:

SSLCertificateChainFile /etc/httpd/mycerts/sub.ca.crt (Get this file from here).

And finally at line 158 change to:

SSLCACertificateFile /etc/httpd/mycerts/ca.crt (This file you can get from here).

Open the Terminal (MainMenu -> System Tools -> Terminal) and type the following command: /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart. Provide the passphrase and check your installation by using the https protocol with your browser.

You may also use the ca-bundle.crt instead of the above two files and change your configuration to:

SSLCACertificateFile /etc/httpd/mycerts/ca-bundle.crt
