Template or no template?

Recommended Posts

To the osCommerce "gurus" out there,

I am looking at the osCommerce shopping cart system for use on an existing website. Currently, it uses paypal shopping cart, which has worked sufficiently.

Now, the owner wants to add discount by total sale, discount by quantity, gift voucher, better capture and use of cookies and tracking commissions.

My questions are:

1. Must I use an oscommerce template, in order to use osCommerce? Or

2. Is there a way to use the existing site and product pages and integrate them into the osCommerce shopping cart?

3. If I must use a template to properly use osCommerce, how much flexibility do the templates have for creativity?

What I am dealing with is a "creativity" issue, rather than technical issue. The owner wants creative license and does not want to be restricted by pre-defined templates....which are perceived to be not so "creative".

Any insight or ideas would be appreciated.

Scott

1. if you know HTML, tables, CSS your don't have to

2. we don't know the existing site

3. you may try-out STS. If your happy with it, use it, otherwise go back to 1.
