What do I need most?

I can't seem to have both. If I do I get locked out of the admin panel even when I change both configure.php files to reflect https

By locked out I mean all the http links direct to http and the error 403 code redirects to the admin panel.

Any ideas?

You must have something not right in your configure.php. It should be something like this.

 define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.domainname.com'); // eg, http://localhost or - https://localhost should not be NULL for productive servers
define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://www.domainname.com');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.domainname.com');
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); // secure webserver for catalog module

A variation of this would be if you are using a shared SSL, in which case your https server would be something like "https://secure.host1/~username". That sounds like what you have going on.

Here's my admin/configure.php file

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://mystore.com'); // eg, http://localhost or - https://localhost should not be NULL for productive servers
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://mystore.com'); // eg, http://localhost or - https://localhost should not be NULL for productive servers define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://mystore.com');
define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mystore.com');
define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); // secure webserver for catalog module

I'm currently testing a free RapidSSL cert so I don't know if it is shared. It is single root certificate. I'll give them a call when they open to find out.

Thanks
