Use UK postcodes to calculate delivery costs

Hi guys,

I need a way to use the UK postcode database (I don't currently have one, is there a list online somewhere?)

So that if we say the following delivery costs are true

NE12 - £1

NE1 - FREE

NE23 - £2

Then the user enters the first part of their post code and an accurate shipping cost is returned.

Ie. User enters 'NE1' and they get 'FREE!' but the user then enters 'NE23' and they get '£2'

Has anyone accomplished this?

Hi

Sorry, i cant help with ship[ping by post code but im curious, which carrier are you going to use that charges by postcode like that? I have a site set up that does ship by post code, but there are only 6 zones in it and each zone has anything from 4 to 18 post codes (approx) which means 6 lists for shipping and then shipping by weight.

I cant see how you could do it in a manageable fashion using post code alone.
