Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2

Can someone help me out?

 

If I create a whole new data base and upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 will it overwrite all the files and images? We have integrated the pages already and do not want to start from scratch, is this possible?

First backup your data only not the "data and schema/structure"

or edit the msql backup file and remove drop,create etc lines

 

The 2.2 install gives you the choice of a new install or an upgrade

 

I would put 2.2 in a new subdirectory on your server and choose new install and create a new mysql database structure only no data and import your old data.

 

If you cant do that (only one db like my WEB hosts) then you can either use a tool I have seen elshwhere that will allow multiple catalogs with one db or

 

Do an uprade,just updating the schema for the database and not importing the data. Your old data should be ok if not you can restore your backup. Its handy to be able to edit the mysql files their just text with english commands.
