products in database don't show up in admin or catalog?

This has to be a basic thing that I'm totally overlooking.

I used myphpadmin to load a textfile of my products; I can view the products in "view dump". How do I get the products to show up in Admin categories/products and in the catalog?

I loaded table_products and table_description. Do I need to load more?

At a minimum, I beleive you have to also load Tables "categories" and products_to_categories
