Guest Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 I was looking into getting a PHP IDE. I would like to get some feedback on what everyone is using? I am currently using a text editor. Which as its advantages. (I can't think of any right now but I sure there are some.) I have looked into the one from Zend and NuSpherePHPED. Any thoughts? Nicholas Cardi
Jan0815 Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Talking windows: www.weaverslave.de is getting better and better (yes, I met the author in person and he pays me to promote his free software ;-) www.phpedit.net also looks promising and is free - ofcourse. Jan0815 Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 And he is a good man for doing it! We met on LinuxWorld Expo in Frankfurt where I was representing the FSF and he was representing the PHP user groups. His payment was 2 bottles of Coke and I gave a GNU-pin back. He will put up new features very soon, including PHP-syntax checking, debugging etc. And he promised me that weaverslave will stay free. Unfortunately he cannot put it under GPL as he is using delphi-classes that are not GPLed. You can't have everything. Nicholas Cardi It's not specifically a PHP IDE, but I use 1stPage from EvrSoft (www.evrsoft.com). Pretty nice duplication of HomeSite/CF Studio, still missing some tag style editing, and some syntax highlighting, but does have quite a few scripts included in their library. And, they do have a free downloadable version as well. Aodhan
Guest Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 I have found an open source one that seems to have all of the features that I want. I only had 2 requirements. 1. Code Coloring 2. Code Ahead. ----> Best Feature Ever invented for an IDE Its called phpMole. You can check it out here http://www.akbkhome.com/Projects/Phpmole-IDE/

Guest Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Anybody use "UltraEdit-32" ?? http://www.ultraedit.com I have been using it, along with DW and it works great.. . . I'm gonna check out a few of these others tho. Thanx!
Paul_C Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 Ultraedit and Source-Navigator with extensions are my primary environments. Too bad there is still no xref ability in Source-Navigator for php (if anyone knows of an app that does this please let me know). Thomas_S Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I am using http://tswebeditor.at.tf/ and i like it. It's free and has syntax highlighting for all languages I need (php, html, css, Javascript). But unfortunaly, i think it is only in german language. Thomas_S
mattice Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 Hey... nobody mentioned vi. At the risk of insulting the vi devs I think the Windows equivalent is notepad. :) "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"

RobertB Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 I use EditPlus 2, its not freeware or opensource tho, I got a license once (legaly) and im not complaining, it can do other things to.. (that i havent discovered heh) but the only thing i need is: Syntax coloring, or what its called,, color programming hehe. Also its light and doesnt take ages to load and ya can "goto line" and Replace code.. :)
Harald Ponce de Leon Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 Under Windows I used HomeSite due to its syntax colouring and overall nice user interface on working with multiple files (mind you I never used the toolbar for anything). Now that I develop under a Linux environment, I use Kate which is bundled with KDE. The next version of HomeSite should be what Kate is now - only Kate is released under the GPL license :) Here is a screenshot: http://kate.kde.org/pics/kate_01.png more at: http://kate.kde.org/screenshots.html and more information at: http://kate.kde.org , osCommerce
