problems with image paths in configure.php

ive had to manually configure configure.php in catalog and admin because install routine wanst working on server

 

...now i have it running on catalog side and admin side kind of works but im getting an error when we try to add products ----

 

[http://207.36.35.103/catalog/admin/categories.php?cPath=25&pID=&action=new_product_preview] ----

 

...when u try and upload an image i get the following : is this a result of a path problem in configure.php? any help appreciated as im going crazy

Error: Catalog images directory does not exist: /catalog/images/
