wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 ok i have mysql and php installed on my computer what else do i have to do so i can update site on my computer 1st and possibly have my comp connected to the net hosting?
mattice Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 There are pre-made configuration packages to do all this. (Home testing environment only I'd say) Have a look at www.hotscripts.com They have all sorts for Windows / Linux. I *think* PHPTriad is a popular one for Windoze. wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Author Posted November 11, 2002 what is that like a content management system? -slams head wow this php config file is annoying :)

mattice Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 what is ? Hotscripts or phpTriad? Hotscripts = large collection of scripts (including php) phpTriad = free program that installs what you need to run osCommerce php.ini = pretty well documented at www.php.net :) "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
sw45859 Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 to set it up just make sure apache is installed correctly and have osc connect to the mysql database on http://localhost
fcosta Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 the best one for me is phpdev, its simple and easy to install and use :D
wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Author Posted November 11, 2002 there any special things in php ini i have to configure or could i keep default? also how do i install the install file says edit php.ini then next n its like now that you have php installed you can add extra extensions
mattice Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Dude... Download one of the installers. It is so much easier... and explains most of the deal from what I've heard. "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Author Posted November 11, 2002 where can i get a php/mysql/apaCHE installer?
mattice Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 WWW.HOTSCRIPTS.COM "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
msasek Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 No... really, where can I get it? Or you could try foxserv - http://foxserv.net
wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Author Posted November 11, 2002 i was gonna say hotscript = scripts which dont really work seeing it isnt totally installed all i got left is apache now wo0
CC Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 I would have to say foxserv.net is the best thing here. I have tried them all for my own testing environment at home, and foxserv wins hands down! Sorry Mattice, normally i agree with ya... Oh well I do agree you should go to www.hotscripts.com tho... :) Beware you will get an error in php.ini when you install foxserv, you need to alter the $global settings. Piece of pizzle tho. Give it a go, best way to mod your site is offline! CC.
mattice Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Sorry Mattice, normally i agree with ya Now what is that little cute penguin called Tux doing there sitting next to my face... He's whispering... what does he say... Ah! He says _real_ men use Linux and compile their own Apache httpd... Gee.. what a silly penguin. :) LOL "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"

It has taken them about 18mnths to bring out a full version of foxserv on linux platform... And still no joy! Well if you cant manage doing a Linux install on your tod then you are gonna have to go for a Windoze install with foxserv instead! CC.
wkrecords Posted November 11, 2002 Author Posted November 11, 2002 i got windowz i dun feel like getting linux any time soon :)
mattice Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 It has taken them about 18mnths to bring out a full version of foxserv on linux platform... And still no joy! Maybe they should have tried MineSweeper 3D instead. Well if you cant manage doing a Linux install on your tod then you are gonna have to go for a Windoze install with foxserv instead! I reckon it is harder to install on Win then on Linux. Honestly. "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
