Paying Google "AdWords Select"

Did anybody try advertising "AdWords Select" with Google to get listing?

It seems harder and harder to get free listing with any search engine ever since Google came to power and I don't think they are playing fair.

 

I remember times when I was it was so easy to find something in the search engine, even a part number. Now try to type any type number into Yahoo or Google search engine and you will get an error message.

 

I hope some day Google and all others will get replaced by an some type of "Open" search engine (GPL type).
