Guest Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 I am using CVS 11-8-02 and I can't get the USPS shipping module to work correctly. I selected production and entered my API username and password and then when I tried to place an order an error occured. It wasn't a parse error but an error stating that something went wrong and to contact the store owner. I have tried numerous things to fix it but nothing works. The country code is set to US and the zone is set to New York as well as the zip code in the 5 digit format. What should I do????
Mr. Ree Posted November 10, 2002 Posted November 10, 2002 Does it work in the test mode? If so, I and others have had to call the USPS to "remind" them to add our info to the production server. USPS insists we're on production server, the configuration states that, and I placed a non-zero test order with a 14218 ZIP code and get the same error as everyone else ... BTW, I'm using v2.2ms2
bad_lemming Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 my two cents, you need to make sure your store has it's address set up. I think there is another gotcha I came across, but I am not at home to look at it. I will try to reply when I get the chance to check it out.
pazpizzazz Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 COMPLETELY REMOVE the USPS module, then reinstall it. This worked for me when all else failed.. - Go to Admin section / Modules / Shipping - Select USPS and click the REMOVE button - Reinstall a fresh module. You might want to try the USPS Methods contrib. It works beautifully for me. Good Luck.
KENTROPOLIS Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 Man, I feel like a moron. The address information WAS missing the ZIP code - address information appears in MORE THAN ONE PLACE, and in the one that mattered, it was missing. On another note, it converts everything to ounces automatically!

The store information and the physical address in the shipping section are independent of one another. You're missing the latter ... that's what I did wrong.

I thought your problem had to do with the system not printing your store address on labels ... I'm lost. What specifically is the problem again? :(
piaposa Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 well my problem is everything !! haha i have my USPS account already set for production, i switched to production at my oscommerce store but still i'm getting this error on step 1 of the check out process on my store. Like if you go to buy something, at the time of choosing the shipping this is the message that my customers get: "United States Postal Service An error occured with the USPS shipping calculations. If you prefer to use USPS as your shipping method, please contact the store owner." I tried to contact USPS and they say i'm already set for production.. so i have no clue of what is wrong.... It's like USPS is not connecting conrrectry, or i'm missing some information.. i dont know Other than that i couldnt be able to check whether i can print labels from the control panel (backend)... but i dont think so. But your problem is beyond me ... it just amazes me that we are still at the mercy of geeks instead of developers of intelligent, intuitive, WYSIWYG interfaces (oh wait, that's Microsoft :P). Seriously, though, I find osCommerce the best open source solution, but that's another reason open souce is free. It's made collectively by geeks, who as high an average IQ they may have, are still the god-awful stupidest people on earth. If they weren't so out of touch with the way everyday people think and work, there would never be a need for this forum, because things would just work with a common sense real-world function without having to read code you can't even see like a first language. I'm done ranting now. Sorry I couldn't help.

I hate code, call me anything but i rather work with WYSIWYG because... duhh. why would i complicate my life even more trying to descifrate (is that a word?) hundreds of lines of code. And programmers... mmm yeah a lot of them are like that. They're not from this earth haha. Actually i have a company of programming with programmers abroad, so i'm used to the geeks haha...... i thought i could solve this by myself :( but it seems i will have to ask them.. So whatever... i'm so mad... this should be easy. Also and btw hehe if you ever want to make any modifications to your oscommerce store or another web application let me know... ask me for a quote i have the bestest prices. I made the modifications in my shopping cart with my programmers.... their geniuses and probably have higher IQ than me haha j/k (of course NOT !!) :P hahaha ok, thanks for your time then... i'll see what i can do. i think this is some kind of bad configuration issue//// well thanks anyway!! I own a web evelopment company and refuse to get my hands TOO dirty under the hood, but when I hire programmers, they usually don't understand basic things like: Common User Expectations Dummyproofing English Deadlines And YES I will keep you in mind for serious layout modifications.

But i provide services of management to another company that has their own programmers and i can tell you they can piss me off (if you excuse my vocab). The other day, i told one of the guys "replace this text with that one" the guy "needed more information", then "didnt understand it" and then "it was already done" so he didnt understan why i was asking hime that. HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD HAVE DONE THAT !!! nobody else had access to that except for him... i got so mad, and like theyre not my employess so i cannot do much more than talk to the guy that is paying him and tell to fire this dumb guy. I got so mad... but i'm happy now that somebody undertands this pain in my chest hahaha... true?? ok... ttyl :lol: Mary
