trophy Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Since I have so many small components on my site it is nearly impossible to have a freight price included on the invoice when client goes to pay. I want to be able to advise the client that the goods ordered will generate an invoice that will be sent to Hobbies Plus for freight costing, then we will advise the client of the freight charge. Can I add a line in the order confirmation page below the billing section or anywhere else that may be appropriate? http://hobbiesplus.co.nz/checkout_confirmation.php As always all help appreciated Gill A NZ
Ausgirl Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 english/checkout_success.php You could change this line to something like this: define('TEXT_SUCCESS', 'Your order has been successfully processed! The goods ordered been sent to Hobbies Plus for freight costing, we will advise you of the freight charge shortly. Thank you for your purchase .'); or any one of your english/checkout pages

Ausgirl Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 You would not want the transaction to complete without the freight charges, but how would this be achieved? Dont know, thought they just wanted to add a note telling the customer about how they go about handling their freight
dynamoeffects Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I'm gonna have to agree with Coopco here that it's a bad idea to have a customer checkout only to inform them that they will be getting billed some unknown amount in the future for shipping. More than likely your freight company has a table rate that you can integrate into your store. Please use the forums for support! trophy Posted July 8, 2007 Author Posted July 8, 2007 Thanks for all the replys. Because I sell world wide it is near impossible (I think) to have any idea of fregight charge. I would also advise the client of the freight charge and await their reply to go ahead with the shipping of the order. How else can I do it? Gill A
dynamoeffects Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Freight companies don't make up their numbers out of the air. They have tables based on weight and distance to any location that they offer shipping to determine the price and shouldn't have a problem making those available to you. I know that you're looking for a different answer, but I'm hoping to steer you away from a course of action that I guarantee will seriously hurt your sales. Please use the forums for support! trophy Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 Yeah I know what you are saying but how do I sort some pricing out. I know the freight co's have the price structure in place but it is not that easy. Should a person buy a very small part like a screw you would have a minimum freight price of say $3.00 now if they were to purchase 20 off then the freight would still be the same. That's where I get lost. Any suggestions? Gill A
