Getting rid of blocks.

How can i get rid of the default blocks, like reviews, languages, ....

(iam used to postnuke and they call them blocks, if you dont follow iam refereing to the blocks to the left and right of the site)

To do this you have to edit the pages ?

 

catalog/includes/column_left and catalog/includes/column_right
