New Payment Gateway Support

I'm new to this forum so hello all.

I'm curious: what's required for oscommerce to support a new payment gateway?

Does the payment gateway company need to submit the source code for the payment module, or will oscommerce support itself, given adequate documentation?

as long as they publish an e-commerce integration specification it should be straight-forward to integrate it. Some of the gateways do create samples or modules, other times osc members create them here. Depends on the demand.
