New account verification

I would like to improve the security of account creation within my OSCommerce store. So far I have found and will now be testing and installing the "email double verification entry" and "vvc with garbage collection" contributions. But I would like to go a step further and add in a verification email that is sent out when the account is created. The email would have a link that needs to be clicked on before the account will become active (as happens when you create an account with most forum)

 

Has anyone seen a contribution that does this already, if not I'll have to get stuck into the code again and see what I can build myself.
