Guest
Hi all. Very new here, so bear with me. I've set up posadis DNS and Apache web server and have a problem when I type in mydomain.com (example) in my web browser (Which is on the same PC as Posadis and Apache). If I do so I get redirected to my router. However, from the outside internet, the system works fine, redirecting me to my web site. The problem arises because Im hosting everything DNS, Web server and oscommerce all from the one computer. When I try and use that same computer to browse my website (using my domain name) I get sent to my router. How do I prevent this from happening. I need to test the design of my site, while keeping it search engine friendly. I could just use a relative path which works fine, but then I don't get the best search engine results. At the moment, If I type in say 127.0.0.1, the web page loads, but images don't show up. A simple right click>view properties on the offending images show me the url of (eg.) http://mysite.com/catalog/includes/images/imageexample.jpg however I know that at the moment they won't display ON MY MACHINE unless the url is either relative or displays http://127.0.0.1/catalog/includes/images/imageexample.jpg So I can make oscommerce do this, which works for me ONLY but then every "outside" user gets the same url and consequently THEY can't see the images as the images don't reside on their local machine do they???? Im using a Seimens Speedstream 4200. How do I set up my system so that I can view my web site from the server in which it's hosted using mydomain.com (example) Any help greatly appreciated.
