scranson Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Our store has been up for a while now but we don't seem to be getting any sales. We are getting some traffic, not a lot but some. Last week I did a Who's on and there were 4 visitors. At least one of the visitors had 3 items in a shopping cart but never took the next step. This is not the first time this has happened. I tested the process by making a order myself and the programs work fine. Someone told me it may be due to the fact that the enter account info screen is not secured. Any thoughts? How can I secure the account entry page? My site is www.dalojewels.com
Silverado05 Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 In order to secure those pages you need to install a SSL. Depending on who your host is they my offer a free shared SSL or you will need to purchase one. The are low cost but in order to run a dedicated SSL you will need a dedicated IP for your site through your web host. I highly recommend the second option as the shared SSL cert. slow your page generation down greatly and if you have slow load times that might make a customer bounce. Also keep in mind, what you might be seeing as customers might be Search Engine Bots. I would install Google Analytics so you can get a better detailed description of what is really going on within your store. Search the forum and contributions before posting. If that doesn't work, keep looking, then post. The forum is for seeking help and advice NOT for someone to do your work for you. Try to do something on your on, if you are going to run a shop then learn how it works.
scranson Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Thank you for replying. My host has a SSL certificate that I have used in the passed (when developing site pages from scratch) How do I get osCommerce to use https: instead of http: when calling account pages?
