try sticking 'record companies' into google. The first link out is a directory site. Also the RIAA.

Getting links on asmany sites as possible will also help with your google ranking.

Just check first that the site you are adding a link to is known by Google. If it's not then it may have been banned as a link farm

You also have to figure in what kind of music your going for. Are you a niche label doing say only house, or are you signing acts from lots of styles.

Look at the newsgroups. Are their any for similar music styles. Work up a flyer for each act you have signed. Look through the newsgroups for topics of similar styles and post there.

If you actually want to spend money (yikes) look at google adwords.

BTW I used to manage a Metal Band which is why this thread interests me.

The band (Satan/Blind Fury) split up a while ago. Couple of the guys are now in a band called Skyclad. I think they've toured the States once.

Remember register at as may places as possible.

Don't know whether your hallucinating, What colour are the elephants

They're lightblue and have written PHP on 'em.

They're also saying I should kill my neighbors while dancing naked

to Marilyn Manson's version of Tainted Love, pretending I'm Marc Allmond.

So everything seems normal here.

Sigh. Nothing ever happens.

I have great memories of the Dynamo in Eindhoven, and smuggling special fireworks thru dutch customs, and Dutch fire officers at a gig saying they liked our explosions and gerbs were the best they had seen.

For latest news www.skyclad.co.uk

There is more to Ian then meets the code :)

I'll check for a 'Now listening to ... ' mp3 list on Phesis next visit

Dynamo Open Air, never been there, wanted to go for years now.

Every year I saw the news and they'd state how many dope, guns and knives they'd confiscated... I thought. Damn, gotta go there, seems cool!

Did see Sepultura live twice... does that count?

I'm a bit more of a traditionalist when it comes to metal...

Led Zeppelin (Still have three different copies of Houses of the Holy)

Iron Maiden

Early Metallica

Early Ozzy/Black Sabbath (We always used to have Crazy Train playing at the 3 mile mark in our 5k cross country races)

Well, I'm glad you didn't mention Take That :D

I like the Preachers but I have to say my best UK band would be Radiohead. They are sublime.

As for old school rock 'n roll ... (This is gonna cost me in popularity... )

I like early Motorhead. Lemmy, my hero in anti-establishment.

Just imagine you're daugther coming home with him.

"Another tube of superglue..." sort of spells him out.

Nine Inch Nails is good coding music too.

Nervebreaking tension, psychopathic lyrics...

Reminds me of my happy childhood.

Led Zeppelin - I remember being 17 and going to the Knebworth festival(last before John Bonham died), and sleeping on the station platform, cause I missed the last train.

Rush. Queued 3 hours in snow up to my waist for the 2112 tour.

Yes, Lemmy rules, no sleep till Hammersmith.

Do bands these days have it too easy. Will any of the current bands be remembered in 20 years. People will still know Zep, Sabbath, Purple. Floyd etc.

Will Nirvana, Ramstein, Linkin Park et. I don't think so.

Maybe we should have a new forum for this
