HI Everyone,

This site has been (like most) an ongoing process

its osc2.2 based - have added a few contribs but more then anything removed a lot of the features of the standard package. (my main customer base is commercial fishermen - not too many are net savvey - and those who are - I dont want to confuse :)

I would appreciate any feedback / suggestions / comments / etc.

cheers

Andrew

Why are there 32 links in your footer? I would remove them immediately or you will risk being banned from google as that is a black hat SEO practice.

On to the review:

I would change the color of your buttons to blue to match the rest of your website.

I do an ocean feel with the background, good job choosing a background although I generally do not recommend such picture backgrounds.

In the header I would remove that line between the two cells in the table located under your header image. I would also consider putting in a logo and overlaying the phone fax and email(I would remove for spam purposes) information for SEO purposes.

I was always wondering how many different sizes of fonts can one use on their site.. now I know :) (sorry.. being sarcastic)

- stick to 2-3 font sizes

- get rid of the bold

- lose the gray table border around your menu

- get rid of the date/time on the bottom of the page - i dont need to be reminded that its time to stop clicking around the internet and get back to work :) (or homework for the rest of you)

- the image of the yacht on your top banner... looks like it was pasted and poorly blended.

You're selling xpensive stuff... you have to make your site look expensive, too.

Thanks to all for the comments so far

Most has been taken into account - I had been looking at this thing for so long I hadnt even noticed the millions of different fonts - big thanks to those who pointed that out.

have lost the background - I liked it personally but it didnt fit the company image.

have just spent some major $$ getting a company image makover ( has hardly started to affect site yet - more new logo - business cards brochures etc - so will prob have the designer look at doing a header.)

as for the comments about how $$ the stuff I sell is - YUP we are expensive - but read the fine print and we offer a SAME DAY ONSITE service to our customers covering a 500KM stretch of the coastline here in west aus - so dont expect to make this sorta |$$ just retailing from a site :) :)

Would love a few more people to have a squiz now the first set has been taken care of - some more feedback and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Andrew

Links in your footer isn't black hat SEO.

I'm going to go against popular opinion here and say that your design is fine. It might not be the prettiest website I've ever seen, but I've discovered over the years that sites like yours with mismatched alignments and varying font sizes appeal to older age groups, which I'd assume is your target market. It's a strange phenomenon that I can't quite explain, but it exists. I'd say keep your current design, or have a new site designed and offer it to your customers and see which one they prefer.

Your prices do look like you're buying retail and reselling, but if people are buying, more power to you.

Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.

I think it would look better if you had a small margin between the various text sections - particularly on the centre portion of the Index page.

I don't like the grey (CCCCCC) border and vertical line at the top either. Why does that area not extend to meet the other border?

Why stop people from right-clicking on some pages? It just pisses people off for no reason.

I don't like the "Shop More". What was wrong with "Continue Shopping"?

Do you really need that solid band of blue (4B2919) on the right?

Brian's comment:

Is Andrew going to be talking to the "Ancient Mariner"?

I'm one the "older age groups". I wonder if my site is full of "mismatched alignments and varying font sizes"!
