ozEworks
Yes but you are not allowed to by the terms of your contract with Google. Google Checkout is NOT a payment method like PayPal. It is an ALTERNATIVE checkout. Once they choose google checkout they leave your site. I say to everyone - do not use Google Checkout. Wake, up world, they are stealing your customers. madcrazygirl
Google will allow you to use their checkout in this way but you will not meet the conditions of being able to display a badge on your adwords. See the Google Checkout IPN contribution and thread.
ozEworks
News to me but still does not impress me as Google have plans to charge people in the near future. Contribution does not read like it is too stable but here is the support forum http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=263132
madcrazygirl
Oh and yes Flyingkites, Google do seem intent on continuing their world domination and becoming one large Google shop using us all as dropshippers. Clever eh - got to admire them. You planning on stopping them?
ozEworks
Yes, one site at a time.
web-project
I say to everyone - do not use Google Checkout. Wake, up world, they are stealing your customers. why & how? by processing the order in easy way? I don't think so. Contribution does not read like it is too stable but here is the support forum working without any problems on my customer websites, people simply not following the installation steps it is different issue or simply can't read.... Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
ozEworks
The real google checkout, which is not the Google IPN payment version, stops you from collecting information about customers because you HAVE to use their checkout not yours and as part of yuor agreement with them you are not allowed to force customers to create an account on your site in order to do that. So they become Google Customers not yours. If you don't realise that then that is why I say "wake up". MadCrazyGirl said it all - we become dropshippers for Google. barkster
I see what your saying but I think it is a bit confusing to the customer, if I was a inexperienced user I wouldn't know to click checkout or google checkout. It still get redirected no matter what page it is on, maybe I should just change my text on the cart checkout button to "Paypal Checkout" and then it would be a hell of a lot clearer. Only reason, I'm using Google checkout, there is no 3 year contract and high monthly fees. If someone has a better alternative that would be great. I'm starting up and I've been screwed with a 3 year contract in the past. I guess they could steal your customers, you could always force them to create an account first before viewing cart or something. Thanks for the replies. ozEworks
You cannot force them to create an account on your store AT ALL if you want to use Google Checkout (as opposed to the Googel IPN talked about above). If Google catch you doing that you lose the Google Checkout. It's all there in the agreement. Maybe you should look at using the Google IPN that MadCrazyGirl referred to? But I am not so sure about the 3 years no fees. I heard they plan to introduce fees this year but I could be wrong. It was in an article about their world domination ... RaymondCai
Is it possible to move the google checkout button from the cart page to the page after you choose checkout. I want it to be an option with below paypal. So I want option for google or paypal to checkout. Has anyone done this? Thanks I met the same problem when I integrated google checkout. The checkout button shows on the cart page; therefore, when the customers press the google checkout, the shipping fee is not included. Does anyone meet this problem? How to solve it. Silverado05
Have you noticed it's the same three people defending Google Checkout on every thread? Seems like their is more people unhappy with it despite what these others say. working without any problems on my customer websites, people simply not following the installation steps it is different issue or simply can't read.... Right.... Like I said before, when you have for sale the services to install Google Checkout like you are really going to say it doesn't work. How would you make any money otherwise from it if you did that? That must be it though, I can't read, I never thought of that, Thanks...... Search the forum and contributions before posting. If that doesn't work, keep looking, then post. The forum is for seeking help and advice NOT for someone to do your work for you. Try to do something on your on, if you are going to run a shop then learn how it works.
